  1. New City of Angles Says:

Amazing hip boots! I’ve been on the waiting list for these boots since last fall so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I finally got them delivered to my door step the very next day I ordered them. By the way, much kudos to Zappos double thumbs-up customer service! I would suggest buying half a size larger than your regular size. Otherwise, these boots weren’t too hard to put on. They look FABULOUS and hip. Looks amazing with dresses, leggings, jeans…you name it. I have absolutely NO regrets investing extravagantly on these boots!!

  2. Ilze, Jersey Says:

True to size??? I had to return a 9.5 to get a 10 and then could only get the boots on wearing an opaque knee-hi (like a nylon knee-hi). I am not complaining though because for one, it fit and I believe is not available in a larger size than 10. For another, it looks and feels great! It is a beautiful boot, but try not to wear it with pants too much because it would cover up the top of the shaft.

  3. Rhode Island Says:

Love this boot! I saw them and had to have them…as someone else wrote…not too butch…just perfect! Color is perfect, fit is perfect! Love this site, too! Ordered them one day, they came the next…can’t beat it!

  4. Kelly, PA Says:

Cool boots and believe them about the size - The boots are way cool and you should definitely believe the company when the say to order up a half size. I wear a true 9 1/2 and the 10s are great. They’re a bit wide in the heel, but I tend to have duck feet. It’s easily solved by the adjustable buckle at the bottom of the boot. That was an added bonus, since I thought the top buckle was the only adjustable one. Enjoy them if you get them!!

  5. MA Says:

On the Fence - I fell in love with these boots last year. Waited until this year to get the right size. Did have to order up a half. This year’s version while having the same look is not as nice. The other pair I tried on, the leather was a super soft flat totally matt black. This year’s is a bit stiffer and pebbled a little bit. There is a half-insole inside that is already coming up due to the snugness on and off, won’t last three wearings. Also there was glue still stuck on the outside and on the inside of the boot, something you don’t want to see on $300 boots. The boot is still a nice shape and will prob wear well, with the exception of the insole. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Frye boots and shoes. I just see it over and over in the industry, when something becomes fashionable the quality is totally downgraded and it’s just disappointing. If only I got the right size last year.

  6. Victoria, Eaton Town, New Jersey Says:

DONT MISS OUT - Truly a comfortable pair of boots! If you hesitate on buying these, you will regret it. My foot slid right in and they felt like Ive been wearing them for a year already! You can wear them with jeans, rolled up or down and they look really cute with a skirt, leggings or not. The leather is soft. They are just a great pair of boots. Dont wait!

  7. New York Says:

Great boots! Contrary to what I had expected given other reviews, these boots were not as difficult to get on as I imagined since I have wide feet and large calves. There is plenty of room and the buckles at the top and the ankle make them very adjustable. I also have a pair of the Campus boots and these are even more comfortable. I was also afraid they would look too much like motorcycle boots, but they don’t - they’re just casual enough and easy to dress up. They’re slim enough to look good with a skirt, but will also fit a pair of skinny jeans. I see myself wearing these all the time.

  8. Montana Says:

Frye Veronica Slouch - I was a little worried about purchasing these boots after reading how hard they were to put on and how tight they were for some but I got lucky! These boots felt fantastic right out of the box; they fit perfectly and took about 2 seconds to slide on. The color is wonderful and the leather is soft. I highly recommend these beauties.

  9. Ynonne, Houston Says:

Comfort and full of style - Very comfortable and stylish boots. It did come with a few scratches on one boot, but nothing that I won’t do to it myself in a month after wear. Unbuckle bottom then feet slip right in. I had no trouble sliding these on as other reviews *8 1/2 size. I have slim calves so the top buckles allow me to take ‘em in so it will contour to my legs. That was the most important factor in buying these boots. My legs don’t feel lost in them like many boots. I would not wear too thick of socks with these it might be too tight, but it’s really not necessary. The heel does slide a little, until I tighten the bottom buckles and it stopped sliding and after wearing em’ for an hour the sliding went away. It will conform to your feet. I have yet to wear them for an extended time so we’ll see if they are as comfortable as everyone says. I plan on working in these boots in the garden, walking and such. I am very pleased with the boots and would definitely like another Frye boot. Zappos customer service was very helpful as well. I had to change my shipping address so they managed to track the package and it was delivered to me no problem. It’s very much appreciated. Enjoy!

  10. Suzanne, Boston Says:

Terrific boots. Very well constructed (like all Frye boots). Yes, they are a little hard to pull on, but if you unbuckle the bottom buckle, it’s fine - better than a lot of pull-on boots! I had purchased a lesser pair of boots, but soon realized that if you are going to buy a pair of boots, they really ought to be Frye’s. I wear these all day, rain, snow, sleet, and they are perfectly comfortable and warm. Plus, they are obviously fantastic looking with jeans or a skirt.

  11. California, Central Coast Says:

Love, love, love this boot! A bit pricey, but worth it. They are a bit of a challenge to get on and off because of the long shaft, and no zipper. You just have to shimmy in and out. I ordered a half size up on the advice of other reviews and they fit perfectly. The leather is soft and beautiful, the style a bit on the rugged side. This is my 2nd pair of Frye boots, the 1st having lasted many, many years. Zappos service…excellent, as usual!

  12. Jz, NY Says:

Good look, hard to get on - These are pull-on and it becomes difficult to slide on. I really like this, but if I had found a similar style that had just as good of quality and zipped up, I would have preferred it. I can’t wear thick socks with this either.

  13. Amy, Gulf Coast Says:

I definitely wouldn’t go for the smaller size unless you plan to wear them with thick socks. Yes, they are VERY hard to pull on–make sure you undo the buckles on the bottom–but once on they feel true to size. They are gorgeous boots–hands-down the best leather I’ve ever owned. I can tell that once I break them in they’ll feel amazing, I’ll probably wear them far, far too often.

  14. PA Says:

Beautiful boot. Difficult to slip on and off, but once on, it is ok. The color was a little reddish (light) for me, but after an application of Mink oil paste, it turned the leather to a much darker richer brown. They look perfect now. If I could only get the buckle to open up to loosen the boot.

  15. Karen, Philadelphia Says:

Love them - I’m really happy with these boots, mainly because of the comfort. I wore these for three days on a weekend vacation, a lot of walking, and could not have been more comfortable if I’d worn sneakers. I do agree with other reviewers that they are a little hard to pull on, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. I have average-sized calves and can wear them with jeans tucked in. I love the heel height and the color. The brown is on the reddish side, it is typical of a Frye boot. In my case, they were a good buy; I’ve never spent so much on a pair of shoes, and I don’t know if they look like a $300 boot, but I think they are beautiful and well-made. I’ll wear them for years.

  16. Oregon Says:

Disappointed - I have always wanted a pair of Frye boots–unfortunately the calf is usually too slim. These were listed as 15″–more like 14″ in size 7. And even though I have a very low instep, they were very difficult to get on and felt too big once I got into them; major heel slippage. I would have kept them if they had not been so expensive. Also, they are not lined-just rough suede on the inside. I will stick with my Ariat cowboy boots–can beat the look, comfort, and price. Love Zappos however–overnight shipping, great customer service, easy returns.

  17. New Jersey Says:

Great boot, but the color is too reddish - The boot is very well made. I ordered a half size up since I have high arches and because the toe box is more narrow/pointed. It took me forever to get these boots on, but thanks to the other reviewers I kept trying. The boot does stretch out after a while, so don’t give up! The heel is low - not the best look if you’re on the shorter side and could use some height. My main gripe is that the color is too reddish and it is noticeable if I’m wearing brown clothes.

  18. New Orleans Says:

LOOKED better OFF than ON - Beautiful, gorgeous boots. It took me forever to finally be able to get them on. I could only put them on in the morning when my feet were rested. I have slim calves so I think I would prefer boots from now on with a zipper only. I really do love these boots but they are not made for me.

  19. GP, San francisco, California Says:

Highly Recommended - I looked everywhere for these boots but could not find them in the right size and color. Zappos had one pair left in stock. Given the other reviews and the manufacturer’s recommendation, I ordered a half size larger than my usual size. They were slightly roomy in the foot but nothing that could not be remedied by wearing thin socks. I had no trouble getting into the boots and therefore recommend going a half size up. Although I paid full price, I feel lucky to have them. These boots are a worthwhile investment!

  20. Monica Says:

Just the boot I was looking for - I was looking for a boot that had a motorcycle/boyish style. These are the boots! Worth every penny. Yes, they are hard to put on at first but they broke in very fast. I love wearing my skinny jeans tucked in with my studded belt. You can tell they will last forever. Pretty comfy too.

  21. Kathy J, Rochester Says:

This is my 3rd pair of Frye’s and by far, the most comfortable. Unlike many of the other reviews, I have very little trouble pulling these boots on. They fit true to size and are very comfortable. I have worn these shopping at the mall and at work where I am on my feet all day long. No disappointments other than I wish I could have a pair in every color!!!!

  22. Michigan Says:

Cute, but….. Impossible to put on. I bought a 7 though I usually wear a 6.5. Plenty of room - once I was able to get them on my feet (took 15 frustrating minutes). I don’t have overly high insteps - at least I’ve never had trouble with any shoes/boots in the past. Too bad, these are cute.

  23. RC Says:

Great Shoe & Excellent Customer Service - The Frye’s Veronica Slouch is a beautiful shoe. Despite its beauty, it’s a hard shoe to slide into comfortably. I normally wear an 8 but had to exchange for a 9 instead. The larger size really helps!! I have more toe room and the shoe is easier to slide into; the wear is wonderful. The Zappos Customer service is fantastic. I had to send my shoes back for a larger size. It only took a quick phone call and a trip to the post office and voila, I had my new shoes in a week!

  24. California Says:

VERY, VERY hard to get on, if I hadn’t read the other reviews I would have given up trying to get them on! Thankfully I didn’t and I LOVE these boots! I have wide calves and these fit well. They are comfy and I look forward to wearing these with a dress or skirt! I ordered my true size and they’re perfect!

  25. JW Says:

Absolutely lovely boots!! I too was coveting these boots and ordered them when Zappos put them on sale. They were a little tricky to slip on the first time but have gotten easier. I think they are definitely true to size as I wear a 7.5 or 8 and I got these in a 7.5 because I have harness boots in a 7.5. They were a little snug at first but now are great. Beautiful leather, high quality and worth the money. Classic style not too girly not too butch. Love them Zappos!!! Will be back for more shoes!! Thanks

  26. Ct, Pismo Beach Says:

All-around great boot! Frye makes fantastic boots but they also make very stylish designs that will endure for look as well as function. The leather on this boot is butter soft and while other reviews were right (tough to get on) it is very comfortable when on. Tough but refined - a great shoe for a wide variety of outfits.

  27. Lakeville, CT Says:

I bought a couch to match them - I did my homework before buying these and actually ordered them from another company in the short engineer version first - did not like the height or the shipping costs! The color is a rich, warm red-brown, and the leather is soft and pliable. Like many others, I have a tough time getting my foot in initially and must loosen the buckle to put them on. Once on my feet, though, they feel great (even on the first wearing, which was for several hours). They slipped in my heel when I first wore them, but after a few times, this stopped being a problem. I wear them with very thin socks and they are so classic. Great under pants and with skirts. I’ll be wearing these for life. Zappos service was terrific! My first but certainly not last purchase :)

  28. New York Says:

Great boots, hard to get on, but don’t give up! These boots are nearly impossible to slip in to, but once they’re on, they’re quite roomy and comfortable. Nice leather and a good style for thighs that aren’t super thin. Nice in the winter, but should be cool to wear scrunched down in warmer weather, too.

  29. Colorado Springs Says:

Wow! Love them! I had been coveting these boots for months and finally ordered them when Zappos put them on sale (yay!). They arrived a day earlier than expected, and I was nervous opening them, considering all the reviews I had read about people having a hard time getting them on. They slipped right on my feet! They looked even better than I had imagined, and I instantly loved them. They look so good with skirts. I got a half size bigger than normal, and they are a little too big, so they run true to size in my opinion. I’m sure they’ll be just right once I add an insole. I do not have small calves, and they are plenty roomy in the shaft. Highly recommended!

  30. Geri, New York Says:

I love how these boots look on me. The shaft is not too long that my thighs don’t look big whenever I’m wearing these boots with black leggings. They look butch; nevertheless, they still go so well with skirts. Agree with everyone that at the start, it is hard to pull on these boots - I was sweating and struggling the first few times to no success. But thank God I didn’t give up because now that I can put it on easily, the boots are really sexy.

  31. Ann Arbor, NI Says:

Hot boots 2006. Have had a crush on these boots for months but couldn’t get the things on my foot. I found the black leather to be easier to wiggle into than the beautiful green color offered. Love them. I have a wide foot and I was able to buy my regular size (7.5) whereas the 8 felt roomy though equally as difficult to get into.

  32. Indiana Says:

First pair of Fryes - Like many others, I found these boots extremely difficult to get on, though it’s such a great look that I can’t bear to send them back. I do have moderately wide feet and high arches, which doesn’t help. I’ve had this trouble with pull on boots before and found that after giving them a few wears they’re much easier to get into. These boots are fairly comfy once on, thoug the leather needs to be broken in. I’m considering exchanging for a half size larger in the hopes that they’ll be a little easier to get on.

  33. Tialo, Colorado Says:

I love these boots! It takes a little effort to get them on the first couple of times, and a little time work out how to get the bottom buckles unbuckled. But they are so pretty when they are on, and so comfortable. I wish I had the money to buy a pair in another color.

  34. Los Angeles Says:

I agree with the other comments. They’re hard to get on, but once you get them on they are SO comfortable. The leather is so nice and they have that great worn-in look already. Very cute with skirts.

  35. Amhertst Says:

Hard to get on, but worth it - They were tough to get on–the arch of your foot gets a bit stuck slipping in–but after a few wears, I found them much easier to get on. And they’re pretty comfortable and look great, so the initial trouble was worth it.

  36. Beverly Hills Says:

Amazing Fall Boot (with tons of compliments) These boots are incredible! I will absolutely live in them. When you first get them, they are quite tight around the ankle to get your foot in, however after some work, they are a great fit & can wear all day while working. I get a ton of compliments on them & I have worn them traveling in rain as well & they hold up fabulous! I never treated them & they still look how they did the day I got them! Worth every penny & Zappos rocks!!!!

  37. Texillo Says:

Almost… I wanted these shoes to work!! When I finally got them on (which is rather tricky) they looked terrific! However, the heel slipped and I just can’t spend 5 minutes getting into my shoes in the morning. Instead I bought the Carmen 14L model and LOVE them! The zip makes them easy to put on, and the heel doesn’t slip.
