Satisfied Customer - This shoe is great, even though it feels slightly loose on the instep. Nothing a thicker pair of socks can’t fix. I am impressed with the quality of the leather and the workmanship. I love the rich chestnut color with the cowboy style boot look. I wish I could order another pair in black then I would go for a half size smaller.

Bella! After returning the purchase that was a half size smaller than my true size, I found true joy with the whole size smaller. This shoe, even though it looks heavy and clunky, feels and wears like a bedroom slipper. I wear them with out sox (this is Palm Beach) and they feel like buttah.

Frye Harness Mule - Unlike most of the reviews I was disappointed. I ordered a half size down and they were still too large and wide. I also found them extremely heavy and clunky to walk in. I wanted to buy USA made shoes but these just didn’t work for me.

Love them - I too followed the advice of a few reviewers and ordered a half size smaller than my normal size. I have a narrow foot, though. They fit perfectly, so if you have a wider foot you may want to stick with your true size. Otherwise the look and quality are great.

Nervously, I ordered a half size down, as suggested by the posted reviews. I think (?) that was the right choice… my feet are medium width, and fresh out of the box, these shoes rub slightly on the knuckles of both feet’s baby toes. But a half size up would have been too big, and I can tell that the fit will be more comfortable once they break in/soften up a bit. Otherwise, these shoes generate many compliments and they are going to be in heavy rotation among my favorites. Thanks to Zappos for IMMEDIATELY correcting a mix-up in the delivery specs. As always, Zappos customer service was completely stellar on this order.

Finally got a pair! And I’m not disappointed. I ordered my usual size, an 8.5, and they were perfect right out of the box. The color and texture of the leather is beautiful, and they are sturdy and good looking. Very comfortable from the second I put them on. And the Zappos service? Unbeatable! I ordered them Monday night and received them first thing Wed. morning.

Frye Belted Harness Mule - I got my Frye’s today and only ordered them yesterday. Fast service for sure but my shoes came mismatched so I had to return them. Since another reviewer from Rochester NY returned her Frye’s due to mismatching I’m wondering if I got the shoes she returned. You don’t suppose Zappos puts returns back on the shelf do you? Anyway, maybe Zappos should check the shoes out before they ship them, if they had checked my shoes out they would have shipped a different pair and we would all be happy now. I’d rather wait a day or so and not be bothered with returning items because of something so obvious.

The brown color seems to stretch a little more than the black ones. I have both and the black is truer to size. Originally I got the brown in size 9 but is seemed a little large after I wore them a bit. Then I liked the black and got them in size 8.5. They were great, so I got the brown in size 8.5 also. Like I said, the brown seems to stretch a little more than the black. I really like this shoe and wear them everywhere with jeans.

Finally… I have wanted these (or the tall version) since college, and I finally splurged…well worth the wait! They are comfortable, a little cloddy (like every boot), but I feel good wearing them!

Too wide in the instep - I loved the look of this mule; however, it was impossible to walk in these. The forefoot was narrow like the harness boots, but the instep and heel were very wide, so I would walk right out of these. Bummer cause I liked the sand suede.

Not as cute on as I thought they’d be - First off, I took advice from some others and got a size one half size smaller than I normally wear. With the smaller size, the rigid arch support was in the wrong place on my foot. The other issue I had was the color. I chose the Sand Antique but it looks more like greenish brown. Perfect if you want to look authentic western, as in kicking around on a horse farm - if you know what I mean. The quality seems excellent - very sturdy and heavy clog.

Great look. I normally wear a 7 1/2 but ordered a 7 due to other reviews that I read and they were on the mark. The shoe is heavy so you need to get use to that but I was looking for a boot like shoe and it fits the criteria.

Groovy Mules - Very cute “heavy” well made shoes. I have short toes, so am wide at the toe area. I have to wear shoes slightly longer than measured size to accommodate toe box area. I wear an 8-1/2 and bought an 8-1/2 which works well. I have a slight amount of room in the heel, but toe area more comfortable. They fit perfectly with a heavy “Smart Wool” sock. Mules take about a week of constant wearing to break in, and had to wear band aids on little toes for a couple of days. Once broken in they’re great. I get lots of compliments on them. Remember to clean them with leather balm, and then mink oil. I wear them in a couple of inches of shoe, and with mentioned care they look great. I can wear them all day around town with intermittent sitting, but can’t imagine wearing them for 12 hours trekking around a city. There’s really no arch support. With all that said, I still highly suggest giving them a try. Had to order a few pairs to get the fit right. Also one pair had one shoe more highly polished so looked mismatched. Sent it back to Zappos. Customer service is extremely accommodating. Great service.

Cowboy look - In the Frye belted mule is so cute. I love the shoes. They are heavy compared to most shoes but you get used to the weight. I get compliments every time I wear them and with jeans you can’t tell they are a slip on mule.

Was a bit concerned about the sizing. My feet are wider and I have a very high instep. My right foot is also larger than the left! Thanks to the reviews posted, I bought a size down - 8 instead of 8 1/2. They fit fine - I think any smaller and I would have had trouble. They were a little stiff at first and then seemed to conform to the shape of my feet. A little heavy too, but I have worn clogs for over 30 years so it wasn’t that dramatic. These mules are classic Frye - they go well with a pair of Levi’s. I love the fact that they give the illusion of a boot (but so much more comfortable)!

I love my new Frye Harness mules. They were an early Christmas gift from my husband. They are comfortable & look great w/ boot cut jeans. The heel is just the right height. The harness is my favorite part of the shoe, it is so tough! They are a tad heavy until you get used to them but it helps your legs! Sincerely Katie S.

My motto these days are: buy a quality shoe and you get you money’s worth and save your precious feet. A very sharp looking bootlet. I haven’t worn them out yet but they look really cool on. I especially love clogs and slide in shoes, it’s so easy to jump into them and jet. In cowboy or work type boots I usually go a half a size smaller because they are made to wear with heavier socks but I don’t wear heavy socks so the half size smaller works for me. So I would say the 7.5 I ordered does fit true to size for me.

Fit like the boots (though bought a full-size smaller)- Love these! Have the 12″ Harness boots in black in an 8 1/2. Initially they pinched my little toes, but they broke in easily. I work in the hospital where I immediately have to change into scrubs, and these are easier to get on and off with the same look and comfort of the boots. Thanks to the Zappos reviewers, I ordered a half and full size smaller than my boot size, and, sure enough, they seemed to run a full size smaller than the boots. As other reviewers have stated, they’re heavy in the hand, but not noticeable on the feet. They�re solid, have good grip and are weather resistant. They do pinch my small toes a little, but I expect this to go away with breaking them in, as it did with my Harness boots.

Stretchy - I bought these last year before the full boot was available. It was a mistake because as others have indicated in their reviews, these do stretch a lot. The belt part kept falling down, and I had to add holes to get it tight enough to stay up. They’re heavy, too, so they slip off a lot. Nice looking, but get the boot instead! I have the belted harness boot in dark green, and I wear them almost every day.

Great with jeans - These “boots” look so great with jeans. I’ve worn them a few times and they get more comfortable with each wear. The first time I wore them all day (on my feet all day) my feet were a bit sore at the end. I still love the shoes though.

These are awesome. I have been looking for Western boots for 2 years and finally tried these mules first then the Frye boots. I loved the mules so I purchased them. I usually wear an 8 so I had to go down to a 7. Beware! They run big…I wore them dancing all night with no problems. After trying on other boots with a higher price these were the best quality for the money and what more could you ask for made in the U.S.A. Nothing could please me more! I am happy to have found FRYE. I will buy more of their boots/mules. Look great with boot cut jeans without all the fuss of full western boots! Keep up the good workmanship FRYE! enjoy.

The Frye Mule - This mule more than met my expectations. Thanks for all of the reviews; they helped me decide to buy this shoe. They do run a bit large but with a heavy sock, they fit great. I was concerned about the break-in period based on one review but found they did not require more than a few hours before they conformed to my feet. Love the look and comfort.

Almost what I thought it would be - I had to re-order a smaller size in this shoe as it runs large. Even the next smaller size is a little wide…not too long, but too wide. I still love this shoe and it is the shoe I put on when I want to run out to the store, or to a foot ball game, or almost anywhere…and that is exactly what I was looking for.

Need to Break-In - These are wonderful mules. However, I found them a bit uncomfortable to wear initially. I kept wearing them anyway, for a few hours at a time. After about one month they were very comfortable–almost like they needed time to mold to your feet.

Nice fit, superior quality - I ordered both a 9.5 and a 10.0 (my normal size is a 10). I like shoes to fit loose, so I ended up in the 10.0 and sent back the other. I wore them right out of the box and they are super comfortable. I have MS but am still mobile and enjoy nice shoes. I was concerned about the weight of the shoes after a couple of the reviews. But to put them in perspective, they are no heavier than a pair of Doc Martens. So I had no problems. Super sharp with jeans and a nice buy. Well worth the money.

Cool boots! Great pick. They are a bit heavy to the hand but not on the feet. Look like awesome boots on without the bulk of the calf part of the boot. Heels are good; I am a big klutz and do great with these! Enjoy!!

Beautiful - These boots have a beautiful, fashionable shape, heel and color. A little heavy, but they look even better in person than in the photo. I love them. The chestnut is a little dressier–not distressed looking, which is exactly what I wanted. Much easier to wear than a full boot.
